All the Joy You Can Stand!

“May your walls know Joy; May every room hold laughter and every window open to great possibility.”

~Maryanne Radmacher-Hershey

What kind of mood have you been in lately? Have you been happy and joyful or stressed out and anxious? Or have you not really noticed. Many people are used to being unaware of their emotional state and more importantly don’t know how to shift it.

I was working with a client yesterday and we did what I call a “vibe” check. I asked her to think over the last two weeks what her overall vibe has been.

She had a hard time thinking of what her emotional state had been.

Most people have a vibe level that they consider normal for themselves. It could be a feeling like—not awful but not really great either–just in between. It is what I call your vibrational set point and it is usually based on the vibe level that your parents had as you were growing up. If there was a lot of Joy and Love the vibe level would be quite high–a 9 or 10 on a 1-10 scale. If there was depression, anger, anxiety-the vibe level would be quite low- a 1 or 2 on the 1-10 point scale.

See if you could tune into your vibe level right now–are you feeling more Joy or is there some feelings worry or depression. Rate your level on the 1-10 scale and notice what your “normal” level tends to be. Do you hover around a 5-6 or do you swing from a 2 to a 10 throughout the day? It is important information to be noticing.

Our natural state is Joy and if we are not feeling that we are out of alignment with our authentic self–our true nature. The depression, worry, anger are all being generated by our ego–our false self. The false self is filled with conditioned beliefs that are based on lack, limitation and fear. Beliefs that we learned from our parents. If we listen to these distorted beliefs we will feel bad–the bad feeling is a feedback mechanism designed to say to us “Hey–you are thinking something that is not true–knock it off.”

But instead of stopping the thoughts that are creating the low vibe, we just keep going with these low vibe, untrue thoughts!

The vibe check is a way for you to see how in alignment you have been with your authentic self. If you are at a 9-10 you are in alignment with your true self. When you are in this state you see things clearly and are able to make good decisions for yourself. If you are at a number below 7 you are out of alignment and are in your false self. You will not see things clearly and will make decisions that are limiting for you.

So see if you can monitor where you are at and use your low vibe as an indicator that you are off track. Shift your thoughts to more supportive, postive thoughts–which are more in alignment with the real YOU!
